The Secret to Avoiding Grocery Store Hazardous Areas!

I read this article on The Krazy Coupon Lady and I enjoyed it too much not to share!

Know about and avoid these store sand traps on your couponing course!

1. Checkout shelves: Full of alluring candy bars, cold sodas, magazines, and gum, these can be a pitfall. The great majority of those items are NOT on sale and are to encourage impulse buying. The way to escape? Don’t shop hungry, and bring along snacks in your purse– mini carrots, cheese sticks, homemade granola, or mixed nuts are some of my favorites.

2. End caps: Did you know that manufacturers pay to get these spots? More than 50% of the time, the end caps feature items that are just an everyday or okay sale price. These are intended to make the casual shopper think that if a product is in a prestigious place, it must be a great price. Head to the sale items’ individual aisles where you’ll see all your options side-by-side, not to mention you’ll have a greater selection of flavors and sizes. Even “Clearance” end caps can be higher-priced than similar products, so always double check!

3. Deli Counter: The number one location where you can definitely overspend on meat and cheese. You can find these exact products in the refrigerated section and likely pair them with a coupon! Plus you don’t have to stand in line and wait for your selections to be cut, weighed, and wrapped.
