The Secret to Shopping at Dollar General!

Before I started couponing, I thought that shopping at any and every store was exactly the same. You go in for your items, you purchase maybe more than you originally went into the store for, and you leave. WRONG! Of course, each store has their items priced a little differently, but did you know that each store has it's own secret to helping you save money?!

Before you shop at Dollar General with coupons, here's what you should know about their policy:

Dollar General accepts Manufacturer’s and Dollar General issued coupons (Including internet coupons) that meet these requirements:

*Coupons must be original (no photocopies)
*Coupons must have a scan-able barcode or valid promotion code
*Coupons must have a printed expiration date
*Coupons can be redeemed only for items sold at Dollar General, and can be redeemed only for the exact same item (package weight, size, etc.)
*Coupons for free items are only accepted if a purchase is required to get one free
*Maximum of two coupons per item. One coupon must be a Manufacturer coupon and the second coupon must be a Family Dollar Coupon as long as neither coupon states that it is not valid with other coupons

Dollar General will NOT accept coupons that:

*Are from other retailers
*Are expired
*Are internet coupons without a scan-able barcode and/or promotion code
*Contain the combination of an invalid barcode that won’t scan and promotion code that the register will not accept
*Are for “free” items, unless a purchase is required (i.e. Buy one get one free is acceptable)
*Do not have a “remit to:” address on the coupon

In addition:“Cash Back” will not be issued if the value of the coupon is greater than the purchase price of the item.

**THE SECRET**

Plan to save on household basics. Things like cleaning supplies, sponges, disinfectants and other household staples tend to be a better deal at dollar stores. Know your prices to see if they are really the best deal. Don't forget to include Dollar General in your after season/holiday shopping. They too discount their holiday and seasonal merchandise where you can save an additional 50-75% off dollar store prices, which makes for amazing deals! However, you must learn to resist temptations when shopping at dollar stores. dollar stores sell a lot of really cute, inexpensive items on purpose to tempt you to put them in the cart. Think through your purchases carefully because picking up a lot of things because “they only cost a dollar” defeats the purpose of dollar store shopping for savings.

Shop Dollar General's low prices and use store and manufacturer coupons together to maximize savings!

Example: Old Spice Deodorant on sale $2.49
Use $1/1 manufacturer coupon
Plus, use $1/1 Dollar General store coupon
Final Price: 49¢!
